How is the Market? -

The perennial question for Real Estate Agents- but does it really answer your question?
Well it depends- not the answer you were expecting?
Sure I can give you an idea of what we are seeing generally, what interest rates are doing, what the level of activity in general is- the high level 50 foot view but this does this really answer your question. Maybe so. An understanding of the general market trends and activity is always a great place to start and might be all you really want to know.
BUT are you considering buying or selling If so asking "how is the market" may not really give you the accurate picture of what you trying to determine.
The "market"- are we talking single family homes? condos? The East Bay is a geographically, economically and demographically diverse area and this diversity shows up in our market areas as well. Are you looking to buy or sell? Are you in Piedmont? Oakland? Berkeley?
The general question may give you all you need (or want to hear thank you very much!) If you are looking to buy or sell you may want to consider some of the deeper questions based on your specific goals and the areas and type of property so you can get a detailed, and more accurate understanding of "how the market is doing"
