SoCal how can you help? The wildfires in Southern California have been nothing short of devastating. Watching our friends, colleagues, clients, and their loved ones face such uncertainty and loss is heart-wrenching. It’s natural to feel a mix of sadness and helplessness—but there are ways we can make a difference.
Compass and Compass Cares have mobilized to help not only agents and staff affected by the fires, but also is helping clients, friends and family in the area.
Please consider a donation to Compass Cares. This Go Fund Me will directly support those in the area. For information and resources and help if you are affected and in the area please visit Compass Strong, a website dedicated to resources and help for those in SoCal.
1. Donate to Relief Organizations
Donated to Compass Cares or other organizations like the American Red Cross, California Community Foundation Wildfire Relief Fund, and Direct Relief are on the ground, providing shelter, food, and medical supplies. Even a small contribution can go a long way.
2. Offer Housing or Resources
Platforms like Airbnb’s Open Homes program allow hosts to provide temporary shelter to those displaced by the fires. If you have space to share, this is a direct way to support someone in need.
3. Volunteer Your Time
If you're in the area, check with local shelters, food banks, or disaster response teams about how you can assist. From sorting donations to preparing meals, there’s always a need for extra hands.
4. Support Local Businesses
Many small businesses are struggling due to evacuations and damage. Purchasing gift cards, ordering online, or spreading the word about their services can help keep them afloat.
5. Check In on Your Network
A quick message to let someone know you’re thinking of them can be incredibly uplifting. Offer practical help like babysitting, running errands, or simply being there to listen.
6. Spread Awareness
Share accurate updates and resources on your social media to help others stay informed and connected to ways they can assist.
7. Prepare for the Future
For those outside the affected areas, this is a reminder to review your own disaster preparedness plans. Knowledge and readiness can save lives.
When we come together, even in the face of overwhelming challenges, our collective strength becomes a beacon of hope. If you’re able, take action today—because every small gesture matters.
